Permanent residence permit

Permanent residence permit is granted to foreigners especially connected with Poland. After obtaining a permanent residence permit, the foreigner receives a permanent residence card. The permanent residence card must be replaced every 10 years. A foreigner with a permanent residence permit has the right to stay in Poland, may also take up work without additional formalities. This permit is issued for an indefinite period. After a sufficiently long stay on the basis of this permit, a foreigner may apply for Polish citizenship. A foreigner may apply for a permanent residence permit:

a) is a child of a Polish citizen or a foreigner who has been granted a permanent residence permit or a long-term resident’s EU residence permit;

b) is a person of Polish descent and intends to settle permanently in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

c) is a spouse of a Polish citizen or has international protection, consent for tolerated or humanitarian stay for a sufficiently long period;

d) has a valid Pole’s Card and intends to settle permanently on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
